Gotta Love those 3 day weekends. Found time to mount the front bumper and installed the driving lights. Photos in the gallery. You know what I like about this year model? How sweet it looks from the front.

Purchased the driving lights off of ebay - $25.00 they come in blue, amber, clear, red, and rainbow. 3" round. In retrospect i should have went with a 4 or 5" round light. Anyway, they are small enough that they don't detract and add enough light to the front of the road where i can see really well (I'm old.)
If you look close in the gallery you will even see one or two of me.

Getting close to doing the last bit of body work.

On Saturday, August 1,2009. I spent a lovely afternoon sitting on the side of the road. I made it about three miles from the garage when the ole cornbinder died. Yes, i left the phone in the other car. Yes, it was about 90 degrees out and looked like it was gonna rain. Yes, it was my fault.
Here is what happened. Earlier in the day i had dropped the gas tank to fix the fuel gauge. Put it back on and went about my business doing other things. Anyway. It stopped raining and I decided to go and get some gas to see if I had fixed my little problem. So down the road i went. Yeah. Two hours on the side of the road. I finally figured out that i had trapped a loop of the gas line that sits on top of the tank under one of the bands that holds the tank in place, pinching the gas line. Loosen the strap, pull out the loop, tighten the strap, and go back down the road
Aside from feeling stupid it was quite the adventure.
By the way, the fuel gauge works fine now.

Uploaded a bunch of photos for the years 1937,1938, and 1939. These photos were taken from the local newspaper archives and were from original advertisements printed for the time. You will notice there are two IHC advertisements - both simple with no drawings or photos. The two adverts were the only ones there were that ran local. I'd like to have know the reason why.
Anyway. Enjoy a bunch of original adverts for various dealers like Nash, Lincoln, Zephyr, Ford, Pontiac, Chevrolet, and others. There is a good chance you will not have seen them any where else.
Well. I finished the front fenders and got them bolted on today. Began running the wiring for the headlights. Got a little stuck on the turn signals. Hopefully I'll figure them out quickly. Bolted on the running boards and began some of the weatherstripping on the doors.
So all that is left is the rear fenders, and bed of the truck - bodywork and paint. Hope to be ready to prime the bed on Tuesday - so its sand and finish some spot welding tomorrow.
Photos to be updated maybe tomorrow night.
Gonna try and start on the front cap tomorrow, sanding, and primer.

So here is an update. For some reason i have lost the 2008 year progress photos - not that i did much. So i took a bunch of photos of where the build is now in its progress and placed them under the 2009 folder.

I have fixed the doors for bear claw latches and remote entry. I am going to put the handles back on but they are strictly cosmetic. They work great. As you can see i used the Highway 15 wiring harness. Looks good and was easy to install and their instructions make it a no brainer. I am hiding the wiring behind the passenger kick panel. The shaved door handle kit actually has 18 different ways to use the remotes. I am going to use em to open the doors and roll up and down the driver's side window. The wiring for the latches were fairly straight forward and they fit in the doors real good.

The hinge on the glovebox door was broken and i managed to weld that up and its back on the truck - good as new i might add. The floor plate top section has been welded in and sealant placed on it to fill in the gaps - its ready for the carpet as soon as paint goes on. The motor has been finished and everything works well. The firewall was painted with POR15 and then had the heat shielding placed on it. Looks good.

So. in the next few days (weeks) the bodywork and paint will begin in earnest. Wheels and rims are coming shortly as well.
Almost there.

Some of you will notice that the body sits more forward that the front quarter panel. Unfortunately this was an oversite on my part and had i been a little more observant I could have seen this problem. Oh well. I am going to cut down the front fenders a bit and add a bit to the front of the fender in order to center the wheel in the wheel well. I may try and bring the fender down a bit so it looks like the tire takes up more of the wheel well.

A copy of my parts catalog for the D-2 truck has been added to the gallery.

Once again if you have the opportunity to purchase the parts manual or the owners manual - go with the owner's manual. Check them both here and you will see why.

Finally got around to updating the hard drive on the server. There started to be some kind of problem with the old drive. Server now has around five times the space that it had and 50 times more than it was using.
Now if i could just get around to working on my truck.
